A new vision for Romsey

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

Following extensive consultation with local residents, the Romsey Future Partnership has launched its refreshed vision document that will guide its future work over the years ahead.

Since its launch in 2014, the partnership has delivered a number of initiatives across the town, most notably the exciting masterplan for the area south of the town centre. Romsey Future brings together key local stakeholders such as community groups, businesses, volunteers and members of local authorities in and around the town.

The new vision document sets out the key priorities for the partnership over the next five years and was drafted following a community consultation which ran from December 2020 to July 2021. From this consultation, the key ambitions for the partnership that were identified were for Romsey to be:

  • Well connected

  • Environmentally responsible

  • A strong community

  • Place focussed

  • People centred

  • Economically thriving

At the launch event, held on the evening of Monday 28 March, stakeholders heard about the new strategy document and were invited to suggest projects that linked to these ambitions. These ideas will form the basis of the partnership’s workplan – anyone with other suggested projects for Romsey Future could look into should email them to RomseyFuture@testvalley.gov.uk or via the Romsey Future website.

Chair of Romsey Future, Councillor Nick Adams-King, said “A lot has happened since Romsey Future’s inception in 2014, and I am delighted to be able to share our new vision document which will guide our work going forwards.

“This strategy is the culmination of many months of consultation in the first half of 2020, and I am grateful for all the local residents and organisations who participated in that. Romsey Future is an organisation that very much represents its community and by working together in partnership, we are able to achieve so many positive things for our town.

“In the past seven years, we have brought to fruition schemes such as the south of town centre Masterplan, more bicycle racks and mapping out how residents can walk and cycle to access the town easily. With this refreshed vision guiding our work going forwards, I am excited for what the future holds.”

The new Romsey Future vision document is available on the partnership’s website.
