South of Romsey Town Centre - Preferred Option
Public exhibition
On Thursday 6 November, a public exhibition was held at Romsey Town Hall giving residents, and users of community facilities in Romsey, a chance to take a look at the updated plans for the future of the South of Romsey Town Centre. The plans have been shaped by years of community input, including two Citizens’ Assemblies, public consultations, and design workshops.
At the heart of the plans is a new community facility in the town centre and extra car parking, which is designed to meet Romsey’s needs now and in the future (see the boards above).
Residents were able to see plans showing where new community facilities, complementary town centre uses, and car parking would be located and also chat to the team behind the plans to ask any questions they would like. It also gave them a chance to share reflections, ideas or concerns about what they want the council to consider when they move into the detailed design phase.
The plans will be considered by Council on 3 December and if approved will allow the progression of detailed feasibility and design work to determine the design, mix of uses and amount of floorspace to be included.
